Weight Loss can be very difficult. And I am saying this from personal experience. At the end of my college days, I got into the bad habit of consuming far too much alcohol on a much too regular basis and woah did that put on weight quickly! My alcohol consumption as well as my nutritional fall from grace (drunk munchies (ie pizza, pringles other starchy goodness) anyone? how about college graduation cake and ice cream?) put on weight fast. After about 6 months, I was up 20 pounds and not happy at all. I was still exercising, but I could definitely tell a difference - I wasnt running as fast as I once had and I wasnt able to work out for as long. It took me a while to break the habits of bad nutrition - first I had to scale back on the alcohol (now instead of going out a few times a week, I make it about one or two times a month) and I have one day a week where I allow myself to eat sugary sweets. I have a major sweet tooth too, but I try to keep it in check with almond butter - sooooo gooood. I also try to eat a hefty amount of protein. Protein can sustain your hunger for longer periods of time and I was told by a naturopath (spelling?) that protein helps curb sugar crazings. |
I'm still trying to get to my goal weight and will hopefully get there in the next 6 -10 weeks.:)
Hey, I hear ya! I gained more than a couple of pounds myself; After I got hurt in an auto accident last year, all I did was take medication, sleep and eat and because of that, I put on more weight faster than ever (although I hadn't worked out a couple of years before). Now I'm eating fewer portions 3- 4 times a day, eating more vegetables and working out all week so the weight's coming off! Still got about 10 more pounds to go but I don't want to do anything drastic like only drink alcohol once or twice a month ;-)
