Work Out - Season 3 - Episode 5 - Recap - Last Week Peeler, This Week Gatorade

We’re into week 5. Last week was the big blow up with Peeler.  People have not been happy with Jackie Warner this season.  At the beginning, her PR machine was running smoothly, painting her as this icon who even straight women wanted to be with.  Since then, she has come off as a major b*tch.  With last week’s episode,  her own show seems to has turned on her, to the point that Gatorade no longer wants to be associated with her and have pulled their sponsorship! Now, all the bottles of Propel are blurred out on screen.

Jackie doesn’t care about Peeler, and thinks that she handled it professionally (Jackie represents herself as on of the most unprofessional bosses ever, from sleeping with her employees, undermining them, and overall treating them like crap because she is the boss).   Jackie is with Peeler’s client, Shannon, and is reassuring her that she will succeed without him.  Shannon felt that he was great, and she was seeing 100% from him.  She said how Peeler had called her and said that they could train together outside of Sky Sport.  Jackie explains that Peeler was just too defiant and it was time to get rid of him.

The Sky Labbers are doing a beach bootcamp, and Deenie is too injured to really work with the group.  3 weeks have passed, and Jackie is disappointed with where they are.  Deenie is in terrible shape, and Jackie is pissed that they are not at the level that she thinks they should be.  She has them going into the water with some bodyboards, explaining that it is an amazing shoulder workout, as well as abdominal and hip flexor workout.  The clients are not thrilled.

Eventually, they all get in the water and had such a good time.   Overall,  Jackie is not pleased with their progress, and tells them they are going on a weekend retreat to get them up to speed.
Massage is a great reward. It helps with muscle repair. Paisley is with JD and explains how she has been through some car accidents and her body hasn’t been the same.  They talk about epsom salt baths, and how if you can’t get a massage, the bath will be a suitable replacement.

Plitt and Peeler are talking about what happened at Plitt’s house.  Brian explains what happened, and all Jackie had to do was own up to what she said about his client, and she didn’t.  Plitt says that he is a solid guy for that sticking by Jamie.    Renessa shows up for support and says Jackie feared he was going to attack her during their blow up.  Peeler says he was close to snapping.  Plitt starts talking about how it wasn’t about him, but about her insecurities.  Peeler is done with Jackie Warner, and meanwhile, Renessa starts getting all dreamy over Plitt.

Agostina goes to visit her client Micah to show him some exercises he can do at home. She has him working out on the Bosu Ball at home in jeans. She thought it was nice to go to his house and become closer to him.

Jackie calls JD in to speak.  She thinks he is ready because he is passionate, and that comes before skill. She gives him Peeler’s client, Shannon.  And of course she is bitchy and says he will blow Peeler away. (They always make Brian seem like a better trainer on the show than Jackie herself…)

The clients and trainers are all on a bus to the retreat and all start introducing themselves to each other.  Jackie points out how Deenie is the heaviest, and youngest, and Jackie has problems with the young ones.

They are all playing around, Jackie and Jesse pretend to kiss then start giggling about the diseases they would give each other.  Renessa tells Rebecca that she has a big crush on Greg Plitt.
Dolphin Bay Hotel is the swanky retreat location they go to.  They get there for dinner time, and they have a healthy salmon dinner.  Kickoff meal, light portions, and delicious.

JD and Shannon start talking, and they are looking forward to a great experience.

Jackie sends the Sky Labbers to bed since they will have a big day ahead of them, then calls the trainers over to discuss the day ahead (starts at 5am).  Jackie is already predicting a lot of tears.  They are going to have to walk a fine line between life coach and being very tough on the clients, who seem to be full of excuses.  All the trainers go to bed.

The trainers are waking their clients up at 5am.  (apparently the Sky Lab clients had no idea)  Deenie has a cigarette as soon as she gets up, in front of her trainer. WTF

They hit the boot camp on the beach.  All the Sky Labbers are working it except for Deenie.  Jackie starts jawing with Deenie about working out, and she is bitching and whining, and not happy.  Deenie is a person who is just making excuses to not follow the program.

They’re going through the hellacious program, and Jesse says if they keep this up, they will see serious results.  Shannon even threw up!  (Sign of a good workout)  Deenie is rolling in the sand and whining.

After the workout, Rebecca and Plitt are in the pool and she tells him how someone has a crush on him.  He’s the “hot new meat.” She stirs the pot and says that Renessa and him should just go ahead and have sex.  Everyone jumps in the pool and it's trainers gone wild!

Jackie brings the clients in to do a pool workout!  Greg Plitt is going to lead this training session, because of his military background.  At the end of the training, Deenie, who is 250+ pounds and in her bathing suit, is smoking a cigarette.

Now they are in for a healthy lunch, consisting of a boneless skinless chicken breast, cooked with a little bit of water and a little bit of oil, instead of a sh*tload of oil.

Jackie asks them what they look for in packaged food? Organic, calories, then sugar.  Some of the clients are talking crap about Deenie, and how she smokes and rebels.  Jackie then introduces them to the prototype for her healthy new performance bar.  Low calorie, low sugar, and healthy healthy, and great, and what she would buy.  (Of course) Less than 200 calories and less than 7g of sugar.  Jesse says he loves Jackie, but if he has to hear one more thing about another one of her great products, he will barf.

Agostina is picked to run the next boot camp.  Jackie loves how she lives and breathes for training, and she wishes how she had 50 Agostinas.

Now it’s time for the drama, and to do the therapy.  Angela Wurtzel, a licensed therapist, is there to lead the session.  Group therapy was very intense with all the clients talking about the source of their eating and obesity. Shannon tells her story about problems with her baby and brings everyone to tears.

Deenie reveals her story, and how she had left her husband to take care of her mother, and then she died of cancer.  What she says her issue now is that she started looking for instant gratification.  Some of the Sky Labbers start questioning her, then Jesse says he is not familiar with how to deal with addicts.  Deenie starts getting defensive.  The guy Sky Labbers start going off on her, calling her out for making excuses, and start freaking out and getting all dramatic, causing Deenie to run out and smoke.

The female Sky Labbers start saying Deenie is in a lot of pain.  Gregg B. goes out to check on her.  She is bawling because she says she doesn’t understand, she has been trying so hard.  Gregg B. doesn’t think so, but wants to motivate her, and gets her back in.  She argues that she works just as hard as they all do, but not in the same way.

Jackie calls it a night.

This was the first episode where Jackie didn’t come off as a complete b*tch in a while.  It was also less entertaining.  Hmm.  Next week, Peeler reappears, and will they get a new sponsor with Gatorade out of the picture?  Stay tuned!
