There is a new added requirement for all people interested in completing the NYC Marathon in 2009.  Please read the link below:

Basic Requirements:

- You must complete 9 qualifying NYRR sponsored races in 2008.

- You must be a NYRR member between January 2008 - December 2008.  Membership is $40.00/per year. 

New Requirement:

- You must volunteer for 1 NYRR sponsored race during 2008.

Interesting...volunteer applications available starting March 1st.

Just an FYI...guaranteed entry into 2008 NYC Marathon is now closed unless:

A) You run for charity (Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or Team for Kids)

B) Your name happens to be Katie Holmes, Diddy, Oprah...or any other well known celebrity.

C) You are an elite runner (Paula Radcliffe, Bernard Legat, Alan Culpepper, etc.)

D) You apply for lottery entry starting May 1st...your chance to get in is 50/50...and you have to pay to enter the lottery.

E) You bandit...however your time isn't recorded and you don't get a cool medal...why would you go through all that trouble anyway?

F) You find a really nice friend who's willing to risk their NYRR membership and give you their registered race number.  Along with the race itself, you add an extra effort ducking every camera during the race (there are lots).  If either or both of you get caught,  you are permanently banned from all future NYRR races, including future NYC Marathons.
