Risking loss of flexibility

Yoga is about strength and flexibility. If you incorporate other types of exercises, outside of yoga, you risk losing flexibility, but you are stronger so you can hold poses for longer. Is the loss of flexibility worth the trade off?

Depends on what you're doing and what you're goals are. I'd personally want a balance between the two. My job requires it.

I hear yoga is great for runners but I can't ever find the time to get to a good class.

You dont risk flexibility at all IF you train properly.................i hate this assumption that if you lift weights you lose flexibility, its absolute rubbish!!! If you use full range of movement you can increase your flexibility. If you incorperate proper stretching programmes you can increase your ROM 50-125 % i suggest a book called stretch to win by Ann & Chris Frederick if you wish to do this

You only need to look at Jean Claude Van Damme and Bruce Lee to know that bodybuilding doesnt affect flexibilty. For me, if i keep strething I'll keep flexible, if I stop stretching for a month or two, then thats when the flexibility loss kicks in, but its easy to get it back again in my opinion.
