By now anyone with the least bit of knowledge or interest in MMA knows that Randy Couture has "retired" from UFC. This has garnered even further mainstream attention for "the world's fastest growing sport," which has already seen its fair share, from the roaring success of its events to the UFC's Ultimate Fighter reality show, to Chuck Liddel guest appearing on Entourage.
MMA has become so relevant that even Time has covered the departure of Couture, something that just a few years ago would never have made mainstream press. While the article reports that this is one fight that UFC does not want, one can't argue that this is some great PR, especially considering that Couture is off to Hollywood.
